How is TBST Organized and Governed?

TBST consist of a Board of Directors and a small staff. The members of the TBST Board of Directors are volunteers who meet once quar­ terly. It is composed of the chairperson and other five members. The Board set the policies and delegates the implementation of the small staff under the supervision of the Executive Director. The small staff is composed of the executive director, who is responsible for the administration of the fiscal affairs and general management. He is also responsible for super­ vising the distribution agents. The other staff includes the warehouse officer, warehouse assistant and two watchmen.

How Is TBST Funded?

TBST relies on funding from the support of some working partners particularly CODE in cash and in-kind by paying shipping costs of containers of books from IBB. Other organizations that support TBST in- kind are like Book Aid International of UK, Sabre Foundation of USA who pays for book ship­ ment. The other sources of funding are through the membership fees and annual sub­ scription; We have a cost sharing system whereby members are required to contribute some few Tanzania shillings for every book selected.

How Does One Become a Member of TBST?

Membership of TBST is open to all kind of schools, organizations and all kinds of libraries, except indi­ viduals home libraries. A school, library or other educational institution can be registered as a member of TBST after filling application form and paying relevant entrance fee and annual subscrip­tion. When we say school, it means all levels of school covering pre-primary, primary and secondary.

What Are the Costs of Membership?

The cost of membership is divided into two categories. All schools (pre-primary, primary and secondary) are required to pay an entry fee of Tsh. 4,000/= and annual subscription of Tshs. 5,000/= Libraries and other educational institutions pay entry fee of Tshs. 15,000/= and annual subscrip­ tion of Tshs. 20,000/=.

OPENING HOURS

The offices of the Trust are open from Monday to Friday. The opening times for the public are from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. and Saturday from 8.30 am to 1.00pm

Sundays and Public holidays the Trust remains closed.
